U.S. M1 Carbine Saginaw SG Serial Number: 33411xx Württemberg-Baden District-Stadtspolizei-Esslingen Background The markings on this carbine indicate it was used in the American Occupation Zone district of Württemberg-Baden which existed 1945-1952. It was assigned to the City of Esslingen Stadtpolizei. The Stadtpolizei were comprised a patrol division, traffic enforcement, and other day to day police duties. Barrel Group Barrel Type 2 Saginaw SG Div. General Motors (no date) Front Sight     Barrel Band type 1A   Barrel Skirt     Slide type   No numbers on slide. Century Arms import mark on bottom of barrel. Stock Group Stock type 2 (Saginaw SG) Handguard type 1 (Saginaw SG) Buttplate     Stock slingwell and underside of handguard have have no numbers stamped in them. Ordnance cartouce visible on right side of buttstock. Receiver Group Receiver type 2 Saginaw SG Rear Sight type 3   Recoil Plate type 3 SG (Saginaw Gear) No number on bolt. Recoil plate marked the same as trigger guard, WB-S-ESS. Also marked "No. 29", which is consistent with an inventory number. Bolt Group Bolt type 2   Ejector     Extractor     Extractor Plunger     Firing Pin     Bolt does not digits stamped or engraved in it. Trigger Group Trigger Housing type   Trigger type   Sear type   Hammer type   Safety type 1   Magazine Catch type 1A   Rear of trigger housing at top does not have any 3 or 4 digit markings. Bottom of trigger housing marked WB-S-ESS No. 29, meaning Wuerttemberg-Baden City of Esslingen Stadtspolizei, inventory number 29.
