U.S. M1 Carbine

BackgroundThis carbine was assigned to the Bavaria Forestry Police in the District of Swabia. Swabia was bordered on the west by the French occupation zone in Wuerttemberg, the south by the French occupation zone in Austria, and on the east, north, and northwest by other districts within the American occupation zone. This carbine appears in the Centerfire Systems catalog dated 06/08/1995 and sold by January 1996 for $324.97. Centerfire Systems obtained their M1 carbines direct from INTRAC after INTRAC imported them from Austria. Of interest is the bottom of the trigger housing has the numbers 0139 in the common size and type used by the Austrian Gendarmerie as an inventory number, but no letter initials identifying the carbine was used by the Gendarmerie. The trigger housing does not have the usual last 4 digits of the receiver serial number stamped on the rear at the top.
Barrel Group
Slide has no digits. INTRAC import mark behind front sight on bottom of barrel.
Stock Group
Slingwell of stock has last four digits of receiver serial number with 79F below them. Handguard has no 4 digits. Ordnance cannons and boxed SG on the right side of the stock.
Receiver Group
Bolt Group
Last four digits of receiver serial number are not electropenciled into the top of the bolt.
