Background
Letters N+O following Bavaria Forestry Police indicate the Bavaria Districts
of Niederbayern (Lower Bavaria) + Oberpfalz. The police for these two districts
were combined into one police force. The forest area in these districts borders
Czechoslovakia, which is the reason the Forest Police were armed early after the end of WWII.
The German side is known as the Bavarian Forest. The Czech side is known as the Bohemian Forest.
