Background

Advertised for sale on Euroarms Jan-Apr 2007, possibly earlier. Euroarms lists the allotment of carbines they received from Zoll of Austria as early as 2002. This one was listed as one of the few remaining. The Zoll marked M1 carbines are the first seen with post WWII arsenal rebuild marks on the stock. Unlike the carbines used by the Gendarmerie, there are no visible numbers from the receiver serial number marked on various parts.

Stock is an M2 pot belly stock with the opening to the left of the receiver ring for the selector. Handguard is an M2 four rivet. Sling is standard issue Austrian for the M1 carbine, mfg by Stolla of Vienna.

Underwood receiver marked with B, indicating receiver was manufactured by Singer with probable barrel date of 11-43 or 12-43. Total production by Singer was approximately 25,000 receivers.

Bottom of trigger housing forward of trigger guard is stamped ZW with 753 underneath the letters. The 753 is the inventory number assigned by the Austrians. Z for Zoll, W for Wache (Tariff Guard).
