This carbine was supplied direct to Austria by the U.S. Military Assistance Program. Included amongst the carbines provided by MAP were the carbines left behind by departing U.S. Forces at the end of the Occupation of Austria. This carbine was issued to the Gendarmerie in Tirol and has none of the digits from the serial number on any of the parts. The only thing identifying the carbine as having been used by Austria are the Gendarmerie markings on the bottom of the trigger housing.
Returned to the U.S. Army by Austria. Purchased from CMP.
