BackgroundReturned to the U.S. Army by the government of Austria. Provided to the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), by the U.S. Army. Purchased from CMP, prior to the armorers.
Barrel Group
Barrel has Rock-Ola name on top of barrel near front sight and on the right side of the gas piston housing. Barrel band has had the bayonet lug cut off, not uncommon in Austria. Slide has the last four digits of the serial number stamped in the slide arm.
Stock Group
Last four digits of receiver serial number stamped in slingwell and underside of handguard. Letter R scratched into inside of stock in slide cut.
Receiver Group
Bavaria Border Police stamped into top of receiver left of bolt.
Bolt Group
Bolt has last four digits of receiver serial number etched on top. War Baby! by Larry Ruth p.400 indicates Union Switch & Signal supplied Rock-Ola with 3278 bolts between August and October 1943 and the bolts were marked UN-R on the face of the left lug. The bolt on this carbine is marked UN on the face of the right lug and etched with the letter R on the face of the left lug.
Trigger Group
Last four digits of receiver serial numbed stamped in rear of trigger housing at top.
