Returned to the U.S. Army by the government of Austria. Provided to the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), by the U.S. Army. Purchased from CMP, prior to the armorers.

Inventory number 0052 on bottom of trigger housing is also stamped in the slingwell, as are the last four digits of the receiver serial number. Bottom of handguard has the number 9748, which does not match the last four digits of the serial number. This indicates the stock was on this carbine when it was received by Bavaria from the U.S. Office of Military Government, and remained on the carbine when it was received by Austria when they purchased the carbine from Bavaria in 1956. The handguard has been taken from another carbine by Bavaria or Austria.
